Innovatium is delighted to announce that its PRISMA technology has won the inaugural Net Zero Innovators Award, presented in association with the Net Zero Technology Centre (NZTC) as part of the Decarb Scotland Innovation Showcase.
The Net Zero Innovators Award celebrates bold, original thinking that is reshaping the energy sector. It recognises organisations whose pioneering technologies, manufacturing processes, or business models are ready to deliver measurable impact – accelerating industrial decarbonisation, improving efficiency, and supporting the journey to net zero.
PRISMA, Innovatium’s Advanced Liquid Air Battery technology, was recognised for its potential to address some of industry’s most pressing energy challenges. By combining liquid air and thermal storage, PRISMA transforms industrial compressors into flexible, energy-efficient assets, capable of reducing energy use and carbon emissions by up to 30%. This innovation represents a major step forward in helping industrial sites achieve net zero, while improving operational efficiency and energy security.
PRISMA has been developed over seven years of R&D, in close collaboration with academic and industrial partners, including the University of Birmingham, City University of London, and Aggregate Industries. This partnership approach has been critical in moving the technology from concept to a proven industrial solution, overcoming challenges associated with scaling laboratory research into practical, real-world applications.
The team was also proud to showcase their work at the Decarb Scotland Innovation Showcase, which brought together key industry players to explore the latest innovations in energy and decarbonisation. It was great to see industrial partner Glacier Energy presenting at the event, sharing their insights on accelerating the energy transition.
Commenting on the award, Brian Jack said:
“We’re thrilled that PRISMA has been recognised with the Net Zero Innovators Award. This is a fantastic milestone for our team and our collaborators, reflecting years of research, innovation, and determination. PRISMA is already delivering tangible benefits to industry, and this award is further validation of the impact our technology can have on industrial decarbonisation and the journey to net zero.”
This marks the third major award for PRISMA. Previous wins include the Innovating Scotland Award at the 2022 VIBES Scottish Environment Business Awards and Innovation of the Year at the 2023 edie Net Zero Awards. Innovatium was also proud to be shortlisted for The Engineer Collaborate to Innovate Awards 2024 in the Energy & Environment category.
